Mejiro in Cherry Blossoms #15
Kauai artwork by Emily Jung Miller, 2005

Purchase Painting & Prints »
A tiny yellow-green mejiro (Japanese white-eye) perches in the bright pink January blooms of a Taiwan cherry tree at Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Kokee State Park, Kauai's mountain forest reserve. The tree and the bird were both introduced to Hawaii from East Asia and are now naturalized across the islands.
